Ordered off the dollar menu. 2 Philly Cheese Steaks. HORRIBLE! CHEESE WAS ICE COLD AND BLOBBED IN ONE SPOT! I called and the girl that answered sounded like a dud! They did not even attempt to rectify it! Just made excuses! I normally frequent here 1 or 2 times a week but I will no longer give my patronage after this garbage food and customer service!! It truly is a shame though because the Gyros are always good, but I do not like to be treated like a jerkoff when I call with a slight complaint.

Food is great!! But they gyros I get for some reason are never got enough. The same as with the honey puffs. Other than that can't be beat.

i went here because of the great reviews and i was driving through the area. first off its a drive thru ONLY but no points off at all for that. just a heads up. but basically the main reason is because in my life experience of gyro meat, it was softer than most of the kind ive had in the past. it was just soft and no bite so that was just weird to me. i like a little crispiness on the outside but again it was just soft but not to the point of mushy. ive had a bazillion gryos so i have had my fair share. fries were fine and i also ordered the honey puffs which are basically just little donuts and for the flavor they sprinke cinnamon and then pour liquidy honey on top. its good if youre craving gyros but not if you're trying to show a visitor what a true gryo should be.

Got the Greek salad. Loved it! I've been looking for a good Greek salad in York for years. I've always passed over the Gyro Express because the drive through only building makes it look "cheesy". I was wrong. Service was fast and friendly. Portion size was great and the salad was very fresh!

  • K S.

Amazing!! Had the standard Gyro. It was good tender meat, the sauce was excellent. I want to try to get in there and check out the other menu items. As far as Greek food. It tasted as authentic as if I was in Greece's parking lot. A little pricey, but good ingredients don't come cheap. I get that. If you are cruising on yelp looking for just the best tasting food (there's not an inside, it's just a drive thru) try it out. I doubt you'd be disappointed.

We just tried them for the first time the other night. Ordered two gyro combos (gyro, fries, and drink) and they were very good and overstuffed. So much so that I didn't even try the fries. We ordered three chicken skewers for our 5 year old daughter. These were great and only cost $3. She really liked them and we still had leftovers. We tried to save room for dessert and drove back through the drive thru for an order of honeypuffs. These were fantastic. Only cost $1.99 for a box. The three of us shared them and still had some leftover.

Oh dear god I cannot believe I forgot to review this until now. I have literally lost count of the amount of times that I've eaten Gyro Express food. I have also lost count of the amount of locomodes I have sampled, although I will never admit that! It was a grand day when we discovered a Greek drive-thru had appeared and it was a flurry of gyros and soulvaki for what seemed like months. I'm a chicken soulvaki fan myself and loved the briny, tangy taste of the chicken against the soft and warm pitas. Another interesting stand out were the fries. You wouldn't expect the fries to be particularly noteworthy but they are very, very well done. My love affair with the locamodes makes me want to wax poetic on them for some time, but suffice it to say just try them and you'll be hooked too!

This is a great little spot. Food is good. Staff are very nice. Check out sides. Get a chicken souvlaki skewer for $1.99. In fact, there is another rockin' side special for $2 but I'm not going to tell you what it is...gotta look for yourself. ;-) Good stuff. --- Located right next to the Taco Bell by the Lowes plaza in York. This is a drive-thru...

great greek food served in an old hot-n-now building on memory lane. have been here several times but stopped in again yesterday and was delighted that they had a buy one get one half price deal on gyros so my partner and i each got our own pork gyro and they were amazing! absolutely loaded with meat - i would guess at least a half pound in each gyro and the tzaziki (sp?) sauce was great, onions had a good flavor and it was loaded with some kind of herb (parsley?) anyway it tasted very fresh, was ready super quick, and for both of us the total was $6.15 can't beat it!

This is the only gyro place that I've found that makes them like they did back in Michigan. I had a traditional gyro when I went and it was everything I remembered. I also had fries and the honey puffs. The puffs are TO DIE FOR. My husband and I split them, but they're so sweet, you could probably split them between a family of four. If you're ever by this place, you really should go. You will not be disappointed.

Went here because I was craving a gyro and couldn't wait for the Greek Food Festival. This place is the real deal. We have lived here for just under 3 months and have eaten here more than any other place in York. The gyros are awesome - perfect pitas, delicious LAMB (the way it should be), and the tzaziki sauce is authentic. The fries are fantastic (nice and crispy). And the locamades are PERFECTION. As of this review they have just started a dollar menu that includes rice pudding and locamades. The dollar menu sandwiches are what you would expect for a dollar (a dollar cheesesteak?)- obvious drunk food. Spend the money and get a good gyro and fry combo. Tonight we are trying the rice pudding and greek salad- can't wait!

Yum! We get the gyros, it is a little too salty for a person who usually uses no salt, but we just drink more. Very generous meat portions, more than enough! Take your small car, it was hard to get around the drive-thru with the extended cab truck we were in.

Simultaneously, probably the best value and best tasting gyro I've had ever. Like the one reviewer said, they DO pile on a lot of meat, but I actually like it that way, so it's mostly personal preferences. I went right at 12:15 PM on a Friday, so that was peak food-making time if I had to guess. All my food was hot, except for the tomatoes on the gyro - but I think that speaks for how fresh everything was assembled. At $7 per gyro, with such quick assembly and quality ingredients, I think it's fair to say that you should skip the Taco Bell next door and come to this place instead.

  • Leica G.

The gyros are good, but really heavy with the meat. I prefer a little less in mine and with extra tzatziki. Their grape leaves are very good as well.

Love good Greek food, unfortunately this place has been wildly inconsistent . Sometimes the chicken souvlaki is excellent, sometimes dry. Sometimes gyro great, sometimes small grainy pieces. It's worth the chance, but each time it's inconsistent I lose faith, hopefully they pick up their consistency. I'd even pay more for top shelf, fresh, reliable Greek food. Don't get lazy !

  • John S.

The food is excellent. Have had all of the different gyro sandwiches (classic, chicken, pork & beef), and have liked them all, but tend to go for the classic (lamb & beef combo). The meat is wonderful (done on a spit - not the frozen stuff some diners re-heat on a griddle & serve up), their tzatziki sauce is perfect, and they top it all off with onions, tomatoes and parsley combo. They know their gyro's. They also do a great spinach pie (spanakopita) that we also enjoy. So far have not had a disappointment here. It all tastes fresh & flavorful, and we need restaurants like this. It is too bad that it is drive-thru (take-out) only, but just glad that the only Greek place in town actually has good food. Hope they are doing enough business to stay in business.

Let me start off by saying there's not much to eat around York. So I'm going to help by doing a service and yelping the only places worth eating around here. So needless to say I was surprised by the drive-through Gyro place. This place looks like it used to be a checkers but painted all-white. The menu is simple with several combinations and sides that I would all recommend. Everything here is quick and easy and actually quite tasty. You can't go wrong with the regular Gyro combination and a side of the honeybees.

  • Robert T.

Fantastic food and much-needed culinary diversity for York. Chicken souvlaki and classic gyro were great, moist, and flavorful. Fries were crispy. Locamodes were phenomenal! We'll be back for more and to try some of the other dishes.

Alright so I'm in York PA for work and there is all the normal stuff around here. It's like any other suburb and regular chains. I travel a bit and usually check out gyro places. I went to one in KS and it was not bad. It was much nicer, better kept, had indoor seating...and had other restaurants in the area. This place is drive up only (I was in a 26 foot Kenworth) so I had to walk up, no outdoor seating or window, grass was over grown, couldn't tell if it was even open because the lights were not on....it actually looked like one of those places that are run down and closed. I walked over to one side and it looked closed. I walked to the other to see if I saw anyone and was about to walk away...I decided to knock. I saw a guy walking from the back and he came to the window. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have cheese fries...so since I was hungry...I decided to order two gyro classics. I'll tell ya what....this place blows away that one place in KS out of the water. I would have liked a little more tatziki but other than that...tender meat, a nice mixture of onions and tomatoes in every bite, and a nice flavorful tatziki. I enjoyed every bit of my experience. Customer service was pleasant and would definitely tell people to visit this place if ever in East York, PA. I hope they make it to a full blown restaurant if that's what they want...would have loved to sit down there and enjoy it...and probably have tried more food. Good luck to them and if I'm ever back in the area...I will definitely stop back in.

I have had Greek food before, I have attended the Greek food festival and when I saw Gyro Express was now where Hot 'N Now used to be over a decade ago I was curious...how good could it be? I told my wife about them and saw the quick spot on Fox 43 WHTM as an advertisement I decided to check them out. We pulled up and the menu is simple yet has all your standard items combos, salads, desserts, drinks. We ordered a couple of combos, baklava and some Locomades -'Honey Puffs' and went on our way. The service was very quick and friendly and the food was hot and fresh. I dove into my traditional Gyro immediately - it had plenty of tzatziki sauce and veggies and was packed full of meat. The bread was soft and not to thick, but delicious. I found the fries to be very good not soggy, but crisp and just salted enough. I was so satisfied after the combo I almost couldn't eat anymore, but the honey puffs looked too good to pass up - they were decadent and sweet, but not overly so. The flavor of the honey was great and they felt light not like a heavy lard fried donut. I did not have the baklava since we bought it for my wife's Mom, but it looked tasty - I will have to try some for myself next time.

I wish I would have known about this place sooner! As an Irish guy that married into a Greek family I have had may share of home made Greek food as well as visits to the ever popular Greek Food Fest. The Gyros here are just as good if not better than what is made at the Fest!! Props on the tzaziki sauce it was great! The meat had that perfect spice to it and the Gyros were huge! I cannot comment on any of the other foods they have there because I havent tried them, YET!!! I wish I lived beside this place!
